“It feels strange. It’s not my given name. Refrain from addressing me as Chris.”
Chris Pratt has opened up about his relationship with his first name and revealed his dislike for people calling him Chris.
It’s hard to imagine Chris Pratt being called anything else. Since rising to fame, the actor has become known as one of the most famous Chrises in the entertainment industry. With roles in shows like Parks and Recreation, movies like Jurassic World, and Guardians of the Galaxy, Chris Pratt has become as recognizable as Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, and Chris Pine. However, he’s still not as famous as Kris Jenner.
For those wondering, Chris Pratt’s full name is Christopher Michael Pratt, but he goes by Chris Pratt professionally. So, his real name is still Chris Pratt. However, his close circle of friends avoids calling him Chris. In an interview on SiriusXM’s Pop Culture Spotlight With Jessica Shaw, Jessica asked, “How do they refer to you? Pratt?” and Chris clarified.
Chris replied, “Yes. Pratt. CP. You know, CP. ‘Hey, CP.’ But no one uses the term Chris. My friend Chad and I were playing golf with our pastor recently, and Chad, wanting to be different, said, ‘Nobody uses Chris? I’m going to call you Chris. Alright, Chris. Your turn.’ But I had to say, “No, it feels weird. It’s not who I am. Please don’t call me Chris.”
It’s unclear whether Chris plans to legally change his name or sees “Chris Pratt” as a pseudonym, but we’ll keep you updated if anything changes. The names Pratt and CP just don’t have the same ring to them as Chris.
With Chris Pratt stepping away from the Chris spotlight in Hollywood, it might be time to look for a new member to join the famous Chris group. I hereby nominate Chris Messina as a potential candidate.
